The Hanlon Headgate is a concrete structure that was used to control the amount of water from the Colorado River allowed to flow into the Imperial / Alamo Canal. There were 12 separate gates that could be raised or lowered to regulate the volume of water passing through.  Although not in use, as of 2018 the headgate still exists.
